XFtoWP 1.5 Upgrade Guide

To upgrade websites running XFtoWP 1.4.x to the now stable XFtoWP 1.5 release, follow this guide to import existing site data for full support for the plugin’s powerful new features and a more streamlined logging system.

Note: If you are installing XFtoWP for the first time or have not synced any threads and users, this guide does not apply to you.

After updating the plugin from the auto updater or installing XFtoWP 1.5 yourself, you will be prompted with an important upgrade notice in your WordPress dashboard. Please follow the link to go to the updater screen.

If your site has any users or threads connected, you will need to perform a simple migration of their sync logs. It is important to keep your sync logs up to date as it keeps your data better organized and prevents unwanted syncing mix-ups.

Luckily, XFtoWP 1.5 makes this migration easy with its very own Bulk Actions tool:

Upgrade logs data

Follow the prompts to update both users and threads logs, and the plugin will continue full operations and ready for you to try out the many new features introduced in XFtoWP 1.5!

Everything seems to be fine except I cannot get the "migrate users logs" part to work. I had zero users synced before... it wants me to move users to the "xfwp_logs" table. It is stalling out and just spinning forever.

I'm taking a look and will see what is happening here!

I was trying to give that a "thumbs up"... but the reactions are gone now.

@Alex I think maybe it is because I test synced a user and then unsynced the user. Maybe it created the tables and then removed all the records??? I have no real idea what I am talking about... but it seems to think there is something to convert.

I was able to sync 15,000+ users on my other forum.

Yes, the check for the upgrader is a bit too crude and allowed that to slip through! I will have a fix in the plugin shortly.

I'm glad to hear those results! You can turn on syncing for all future registrations so you don't have to run these processes often, and each user can be manually synced from the Edit User screen in WP admin.

With all of that setup out of the way you can move towards the "fun stuff" like syncing custom user fields and usergroup promotions!

Thanks, I just updated the permissions for this new forum. I'm trying out Search Forums to filter the destination for threads created from XFtoWP.com and my other product sites.

I have made a change in XFtoWP 1.5.0.1 that may help. I hope you are able to get all of your sites up and running!
